Over 75% of North Idaho's lands are public, offering a wide range of outdoor opportunities and resources. In addition to the three largest lakes, the Selkirk, Cabinet and Bitterroot ranges include over 100 smaller lakes. Public lands offer extensive hiking, backpacking, hunting and camping opportunities. Regional game species include deer, elk, moose, black bear and mountain lion.

The Region & The Rainforest
The lake country of North Idaho rests at the southern end of the largest inland temperate rainforest in the world. Pacific storm systems feed the streams, rivers, and lakes — including the three largest lakes in the region: Lake Pend Oreille, Priest Lake, and Lake Coeur d'Alene. The Priest River — which Riverbend fronts — drains Priest Lake. It flows due south and empties into the Pend Oreille River — some 66 miles downstream. In addition to fly fishing, the Priest River offers two sections of Class III whitewater, plus excellent canoeing and kayaking.

The Fishery.
The Priest River supports brown, brook and cutthroat trout, as well as mountain whitefish and smallmouth bass. But the fishery isn't limited solely to the Priest River.
The property is just thirty minutes from the Priest Lake to the North, and thirty minutes from the City of Priest River — with access to the Pend Oreille River and Lake Pend Oreille to the south. Priest Lake's forty square miles of freshwater offer lake trout, trophy-sized smallmouth bass, cutthroat trout, and kokanee salmon, as well as a large population of Mackinaw. The endangered bull trout can also be found here, protected under catch-and-release practices.
At 150 square miles, Lake Pend Oreille is widely known for trophy-sized lake trout, kokanee salmon, brown trout, and rainbow trout. The elusive Kamloops rainbow trout, known for acrobatics when hooked, are also found in Lake Pend Oreille. Lake Pend Oreille also offers tournament fishing throughout the year and has recently been producing more rainbow trout over twenty pounds than anywhere in the world.
Boat launches, full marina services, boat rentals, charters, and guiding services are readily available throughout North Idaho, serving all the lakes and rivers in the region.
